Dear customer,

You are already familiar with the fact that the authentication of transactions made online through credit and debit cards issued by Credit Europe Bank (Romania) SA (CEB) is done through the 3D Secure * protocol.

This implementation was carried out in order to increase the degree of security in the case of online transactions, being in accordance with the requirements regarding the strict authentication of customers (cardholders / card users), provided in the PSD Payment Services Directive 2.

The 3D Secure protocol has been enhanced by adding an additional step in the authentication process, as follows:

  • Step 1 -> entering a static password;
  • Step 2 -> entering a dynamic password.

Thus, when making an online transaction through a card issued by CEB, after completing the online order by choosing the desired products / services, you will fill in the card details you have from CEB, after which a secure page will open in which you will enter a static password (the last 6 digits of the Personal Numeric Code ** of the cardholder / user).

If this password is correct, you will receive an SMS on the phone number declared to CEB with a dynamic password that you will enter in the next secure page to confirm the transaction.

If this password is also entered correctly, then the transaction will be successful. If the static password (the last 6 digits of the Cardholder's Personal Numerical Code **) or the dynamic password received via SMS is entered incorrectly, you will be notified via a message displayed on the secure online page, with 5 attempts to enter the correct password.

We mention the fact that it is necessary that the new 3D Secure protocol described above, with 2-step authentication, be implemented by the merchant where the transaction is performed. If the merchant has not implemented this new protocol, the authentication will be done in one step, with the dynamic password received via SMS from CEB by the cardholder / user.

Because we care about your security, including in the online environment, we constantly implement and develop secure payment processes and methods so that you have secure online transactions. If you have any suspicions about the security of online transactions, do not hesitate to contact us.
